How To Paraphrase
Very simply, when we paraphrase, we use different words to express the same idea or say something in a similar way.
It’s Very Common
Paraphrasing is actually used in all parts of the IELTS exam because it is a great way to test if students really understand something. In the listening and reading tests, for example, the questions will often paraphrase what you read or hear to test if you understand or not.
In Writing
Most students actually know the word paraphrase from preparing for the writing exam because they are told to paraphrase the question. This is important because you can lose marks for copying too much directly from the question.
Remember!
When you paraphrase in your writing, you must make sure that what you say is appropriate for the question and not just full of synonyms.
